Brett Favre After Packers General Manager Ted Thompson gave the Packers side of the Brett Favre saga over the weekend, Brett Favre broke his silence with Fox News Network's Greta Van Susteren.   (First half of Interview with Brett Favre)

After the mud-slinging came to an end, both sides continue to look bad in this deal.  Half of the interview was played last night and the other half will air tonight.

A week ago, Brett Favre looked bad.  This morning, both Favre and the Packers look equally bad.

Favre says he's alright with the Packers moving on, but he wants his release to allow him to play elsewhere.  Of course, Packers GM Ted Thompson knows as soon as he would do that, Favre would bolt to Minnesota, sign with the Vikings and give the Packers all they could handle twice this season.

So Thompson said no to Favre's release and invited him to training camp.  He's banking on Favre retiring.  But what if Favre doesn't retire?  What if he reports?  Perhaps Thompson has a "Plan B".  If he doesn't, then the Packers will either have a quarterback controversy, or one major distraction.

The Packers will likely try to trade Favre to a team of their choice, assuming Favre does report.

A few days ago, I thought this would eventually go away.  Now, I'm not so sure.

More of Favre's chat with Greta Van Susteren will air tonight.  Look for the mud-slinging to continue.
