On Thursday the Associated Press reported of a preliminary FBI investigation into ACORN. Senator John McCain and GOP leaders have accused the voter drive group of knowingly submitting false voter registration cards to election officials.

"Our interpretation of the law is we have to turn in every card (to election officials), so we flag them. We put them in three categories," says Midwest Director of ACORN Jeff Ordower told WRN earlier this week about their process.

The categories are cards that have been verified by ACORN, the second is cards that are somehow incomplete and finally cards that appear to be problematic. The questionable cards are flagged to the elections boards and the canvassers' names are referred for possible prosecution. Ordower says the fact they've caught and fired these employees is proof the system is working.

The state GOP is not accusing ACORN of any illegal activity but says there needs to be closer scrutiny.

"We've had people all over the nation charged for wrong doing we're seeing a lot of that problem here in Wisconsin as well, " says Mark Jefferson, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Republican Party.

In Milwaukee County, three voter drive workers have been charged. One of them worked for ACORN but their charges stem from time spent with another group.
