The No Child Left Behind Act is up for renewal and a delegation of Wisconsin educators is petitioning congress to take its time.

Charlotte Foth, past president of the American Federation of Teachers local 1166 in Menasha, will ask Congressman Tom Petri to take it slow in renewing the federal report card.

Foth believes if educators were involved there wouldn't be so much emphasis on standardized testing. She says there are too many tests and not enough funding for them.

Besides, the tests don't measure other things that students might be learning such as critical thinking.

Foth believes there must be standards and accountability in teaching but districts should be judged on rate of improvement not a one size fits all grade.

Foth's delegation will be taking their case to Congressman Tom Petri and others.
