DWD-color_portraitNew technology tools will be available Wednesday evening to some unemployed Wisconsinites that have to file work search reports.

John Dipko is a spokesman for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. He encourages unemployed people filing claims and completing job search reports to start using the online site — via their desktop computers or handheld mobile devices to simplify the process. “What this change will do is it will allow us to gather information right online, which will eliminate the need to request that paper documents be scanned or faxed or mailed.”

Dipko says if you are required to submit work search reports, this change makes it easy to do from anywhere. He says if the new system isn’t right for you, the existing telephone system for filing claims will still be operational. “The phone system will still be operating, so individuals can still use the automated phone system to file their weekly claims, however they will need to keep their own records of their work search activities, and they need to retain those for a year.”

Dipko says people at the department will be able to help new users get familiar with the new system.
