Officials at the State Fair Park are being urged to consider the facility's financial future.

A recent audit of the State Fair Park shows the facility is on track to make $400,000 this year. State Representative Sue Jeskewitz (R-Menomonee Falls) warns though that those figures could be deceiving.

Jeskewitz says it appears more money is coming in because of a new licensing agreement for the Milwaukee Mile. She says there are hidden costs to the agreement that taxpayers will have to cover. She says the state may have to pick up a nearly $700,000 difference in the capital costs of the race track.

Jeskewitz, who co-chairs the Legislature's Joint Audit Committee, says Park officials may want to seriously consider the future of the Milwaukee Mile. The track is one of the oldest in the nation, and she says the land its on could be put to a better use if redeveloped.
