The Palm's Supper Club in Hatfield, near Black River Falls, burned to the ground Wednesday afternoon. According to Black River Falls Fire Chief Steve Schreiber, a delivery person noticed heavy smoke coming out of the building just after noon and contacted emergency officials. Schreiber says nearly 40 firefighters and just about every fire department in Jackson County, along with the Wisconsin DNR fire control, responded to the scene. Because the supper club was in a very rural area, water had to be hauled in with numerous tankers. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
