Going off the “fiscal cliff” could hurt Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corporation. While lawmakers in Washington D.C. continue negotiations, a business leader says their failure would lead to problems in.

Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce president John Casper says if the politicians don’t reach an agreement on cutting government spending, the defense department would be forced to cut $550 billion, and that could have a big impact on companies that depend on military contracts, like the Oshkosh Corporation.

Casper says the company is in the middle of completing a $3 billion vehicle contract, and others are on the way, but those could potentially go away, if the cuts take effect.

Oshkosh already plans to cut 450 workers in January, because of the wars ending in Iraq and Afghanistan.
