Home owners and farmers are cleaning up damage from flash floods this week in parts of St. Croix, Dunn, and Pierce Counties. The high waters also have one dairy farmer looking for what’s left of his herd.

Flooding on the Rush River washed away 13 of dairy farmer Tim Wipf’s cows. The Pierce County farmer woke early Wednesday morning to the frightened mooing of his cows, as the water rose. Another part of the herd was scattered by the water, although several of those cows have been recovered.

Wipf has lived on the family farm all of his life and says he’s never experienced a flood like this.

Wipf’s farm is in Martell Township, several miles east of River Falls.
