Fond du Lac police will be referring additional charges against a 37 year-old suspect arrested for child porn possession, after a warrant search uncovered drugs and a small stockpile of weapons. Police Captain Steve Klein says when they searched Timothy Letz's residence on April 2nd they found CDs and DVDs with sexually explicit images, but also a cache of weapons and marijuana.
Klein says there were 23 weapons, which included four handguns, six shotguns, and some assault-type rifles, including an M-1 and an SKS, similar to a military assault rifle. There were also thousands of rounds of ammunition, and a number of police scanners throughout the home.
While state investigators are prosecuting the child porn angle, locals will pursue drug and weapons charges. The investigation, says Klein, was spearheaded by the state Division of Criminal Investigation. Fond du Lac police assisted DCI in serving search warrants at Letz's residence, leading to discovery of the drugs and weapons.
