Former Wisconsin Badgers offensive lineman John Moffit was arrested early Sunday morning on drug and battery charges at a nightclub in Chicago.
The Chicago Sun-Times says that Moffitt had one gram of cocaine, four ecstasy pills, and 10 grams of marijuana. Police say that Moffitt assaulted another bar patron when asked if he would sell the man drugs.
Moffitt, 27, retired abruptly from the Denver Broncos in November, saying that he wasn’t having fun playing and did not want to risk further injury. He has been released from custody on his own recognizance.
Monday, Moffitt tweeted an apology acknowledging that he made a “dumb mistake.”
