Former death row inmates make the case against re-instating capital punishment in Wisconsin. Ray Krone is among several former death row inmates touring the state of Wisconsin. They're part of an effort to defeat a statewide referendum in November that asks if Wisconsin should bring back capital punishment. Krone says he wants to a be a voice for those still inside, who may be innocent but are treated like an animal or monster.

Krone spent 10 years in an Arizona prison for the murder of a woman, which he was later cleared of because of DNA evidence. He says the death penalty is not the ultimate punishment for murder…life in prison is much worse. He also attacked the vote as being about boosting the careers of politicians, not gaining justice for victims.

Krone was among several former inmates who spoke at an event Friday in Madison as part of a rally against the death penalty referendum in Wisconsin.
