Without a team for months, former Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn has signed with the New England Patriots.
Flynn will compete for a job as Tom Brady’s backup. He joins his fifth NFL team. Besides the Packers, Flynn also spent time in Seattle, Buffalo and Oakland. He was a seventh-round draft pick of the Packers back in 2008.
Flynn led the Packers to a 2-2 record in four starts during the 2013 season. In six seasons with the Packers, Flynn started six games and threw for 2,227 yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The Packers are grooming former Badger Scott Tolzien to take over as Aaron Rodgers backup in Green Bay.
