A former Fond du Lac High School teacher and coach accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student has pled no contest to two lesser amended charges. Eugene Henry Dennis was in Fond du Lac County Court for a plea hearing Tuesday, entering the pleas to misconduct in office and entering a locked building charges. Five other charges including one count of sexual assault of a student by school staff and four counts of child enticement-sexual contact were dismissed through a prosecutor’s motion. Attorney Ray Dall’osto said his client’s plea agreement was the result of lengthy discussions. “There were a lot of discussions over a long period of time, and after careful consideration a resolution was reached,” he said.
A pre-sentence investigation will be conducted, but at the sentencing Dal’osto said he will be asking for probation for Dennis. Dall’osto said the 36 year-old Dennis made some bad decisions which led to the charges. “It’s a very unfortunate situation for Mr. Dennis. Decisions can be made in one’s life that can have serious consequences, well beyond what one might think at the time.” Dennis allegedly had a sexual relationship with a student from December of 2009 to April of 2010. The School District let him go in June of last year.
