A former executive with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has landed a job in Nebraska. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has selected Brenda Hicks-Sorensen as director of that state’s Department of Economic Development. Hicks-Sorensen left her position as WEDC’s vice president of economic and community development last March. The agency has seen frequent by turnover in management positions since it’s creation in 2011.
“As we looked for an innovative leader for the Department of Economic Development, Brenda stood out because of her record of successful recruitment,” Ricketts said in a written statement released by his office. “Brenda will be an asset to our state as we look for new ways to strengthen our economy, add jobs, and grow Nebraska for the next generation.” Hicks- Sorenson was chosen for the Nebraska job following a national search.
