Firefighters from ten departments battled a massive blaze in Fort Atkinson Wednesday afternoon. The blaze destroyed a landmark garden center and feed mill. The city’s Fire Chief Tom Emrick says the combustible materials such as plastics in Blodgett Garden Center made their jobs harder.
The owner says he’ll salvage whatever products he can and rebuild after his business is a total loss. “Construction is already underway! Well not quite but we have to wait for the fire department is out of here first,” says Jack Blodget.
Hundreds from neighboring businesses evacuated. No one was hurt in the blaze. Haz-mat crews responded due to concerns of burning fertilizers and pesticides.
