A 14-year-old boy is a suspect in Milwaukee’s second homicide of the new year. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the youth has been arrested in the death of 40-year-old Michael A. Schafrik. Police believe the shooting stemmed from a fight between two groups.
A 33-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were also arrested for unspecified roles in the incident, the paper reports. A police news release says Schafrik was shot around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Avenue, near South 10th Street, and died at the scene. Police are still investigating how the suspected shooter got the gun.
The killing is the second homicide of the year in Milwaukee, which saw 145 homicides in 2015. Police are still searching for a motive and suspects in the fatal shooting of a man on the north side overnight Sunday.
