The Elevate America program is a public-private partnership between Microsoft and Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development to provide online computer training to residents across the state. “This is an excellent opportunity for people to get free training in technology.”
DWD Secretary Roberta Gassman says this effort can improve basic technology literacy among the workforce, and as a result, it will help to rebuild the economy and increase global competitiveness. “I will say that in these times of a tough national economy and high unemployment, I know that there are workers all over Wisconsin who are really trying to add to their skills so they are ready to compete for the jobs that are open now, but also for the jobs that will be coming as the recovery continues.”
The online training courses build skills in Office 2007 products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A total of 13,500 Microsoft vouchers were made available in Wisconsin for online training, and certification. To date, over 4,500 vouchers have been distributed in communities across the state. If you’ve got a Mac, you’re out of luck.
