Temperatures below zero and double digit windchills won't prevent the Badger State Games in the Wausau area this weekend. Badger State Games spokesman Tim Allen says they're taking special considerations, for volunteers helping at this weekend's events. Volunteer shifts have been shortened, while the amount of hand and feet warmers have been increased. Allen says organizers are also making sure that volunteers are dressed appropriately before heading out to the venues. "If someone's not showing up in boots, we're probably going to turn them away," he says. "Tennis shoes aren't going to do it." In addition, Allen says they're making sure that as many venues as possible will have hot chocolate available for volunteers. A youth race has been canceled, and opening ceremonies moved indoors, due to the cold temperatures, but outdoor events like alpine and cross country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing are all a go.
