Work is ramping up on a closed bridge in Green Bay. The construction company repairing the Leo Frigo I-43 bridge began about a week and a-half ago, and more workers will be joining in soon. That’s according to DOT chief engineer Brian Roper, who said Zenith Tech of Waukesha will eventually be on site around the clock, with about two dozen people on each shift.
Roper said workers are still in good shape to reach their target date of January 17 for reopening the bridge. Crews will reinforce five piers for the bridge by drilling new, concrete support shafts into the ground. They’re doing some test drilling work right now, to make sure they’re comfortable with the process.
