The Milwaukee Brewers returned the favor on Tuesday night, coming from behind to beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-6 in 10-innings.
With the Brewers out of position players, Ron Roenicke called on Yovani Gallardo to pinch hit with two outs in the bottom of the 10th and he delivered a game-winning walkoff double.
Gallardo, who had only one hit in 14 at bats this season, missed his last start with a sprained left ankle. His next start is tonight against the Orioles.
The Brewers gave Matt Garza a 5-0 lead but he couldn’t hold it. Trailing in the bottom of the ninth, the Brewers were down to their last out. Jonathan Lucroy tapped an infield hit that third baseman Manny Machado couldn’t make a play on. It allowed Elian Herrera to score from third to tie the game and force extra innings.
Francisco Rodriguez pitched the 10th and had no issues, giving the Brewers a chance to earn the victory, which they did.
