The Milwaukee Brewers open the 2010 baseball season with the roof open at Miller Park today. Manager Ken Macha will give the ball to right hander Yovani Gallardo, which will be the 24 year old’s first career opening day assignment.
The Brewers will be facing a Rockies team that many predict will win the NL West this season. The two clubs represent the last two National League wild-card teams. The Brewers in 2008 and the Rockies in 2009.
The Brewers would like to just start with a win today. They lost all six games to the Rockies last season.
The Brewers will have three new faces in the starting lineup from a year ago. Gregg Zaun takes over behind the plate. Carlos Gomez is the new center fielder and Alcides Escobar mans the shortstop position.
Also, Rickie Weeks returns to the starting lineup at second base after missing most of last season due to injury.
