The Milwaukee Brewers should know later today if right-hander Yovani Gallardo will be able to make his next start, this Sunday in the series
finale at Miami.
Gallardo sprained his left ankle during the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Braves. He’ll throw a bullpen session today. If he makes it through without trouble, he’ll likely start on Sunday.
If Gallardo isn’t ready to go, the Brewers could use Tyler Thornburg in his place. Thornburg pitched 3 2/3 innings after Gallardo left the game on Tuesday.
Injuries
Brewers centerfielder Carlos Gomez was held out of the starting lineup on Thursday with lower back tightness. The Brewers are hoping he’ll be able to play in the series opener tonight in Miami.
Rightfielder Ryan Braun left last nights game in the fifth inning after his oblique tightened in the fifth inning. Braun spent time on the DL earlier this season with a right oblique strain.
Miami Marlins
The Brewers open a 3-game series against the Miami Marlins tonight. The Marlins have the best home record in baseball at 19-6.
