otherwise, he’s still the ace of the Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff. With the prospects of the team falling to 0-5 on the season, Gallardo stepped up and tossed a complete game, 2-hit shutout at the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.
An “Ace” differs by definition from one person to the next. My definition is finding the pitcher that can take the mound every 5th day, give his team every confidence that they’re going to win that day, then follow through by doing it. The Brewers were 0-4 coming in and Gallardo stepped up and halted the losing streak to start the season.

Gallardo used 111 pitches and faced just 1-batter over the minimum for his 4th career complete game. He didn’t allow a single base runner to reach second base all game.
It was an outing the Brewers had to have. Dipping to 0-5 would have been a difficult proposition. Yet, if Gallardo felt the weight of the world on his shoulders, he wasn’t going to admit it afterwards.

Nyjer Morgan had 3 hits and Ryan Braun’s 3rd inning single drove in Gallardo for the games only run. It gave manager Ron Roenicke his first big league managerial win.
