Yovanni Gallardo worked 6 1/3 innings and allowed just 3 runs, winning in his Major League debut as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 in their series opener at Miller Park.

Gallardo helped his own cause, ripping an rbi double in the 2nd, scoring Rickie Weeks.  He allowed  4 hits, walked 3 and struck out 4 in his debut.

Francisco Cordero worked the 9th for his 26th save in 28 chances.  The Giants were able to load the bases in the 9th on Cordero, before the Brewers closer finally prevailed.

After Gallardo gave up a run in the first, Brewers slugging first baseman Prince Fielder clubbed a 2-run homer in the bottom half, his league leading 26th of the season.  Corey Hart also homered for the Brewers, his 8th of the season.

Rickie Weeks had two hits in his return to the active roster.  Game two of the series is tonight.  Ben Sheets (7-3) pitches for the Brewers.  Tim Lincecum (2-1) goes for the Giants.
