Brewers dropped their third straight game, 6-2 to the Atlanta Braves.

Early on, Gallardo earned a 1-0 win over the Braves, shutting Atlanta out on just 2-hits.  In five starts prior to last night against Atlanta, the Brewers right hander was 3-0 with a 0.96 ERA.

Then came last night.  Gallardo, who has been mired in a slump, allowed 5-runs and 9-hits in 5+ innings.  Alex Gonzalez’ 3-run double in the 6th inning is the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The Brewers haven’t done anything offensively to help their pitching of late.  They’ve scored 3-runs in the last 3-games.

The Brewers fell 2-games under .500 at 13-15 and they fell to 5-10 on the road this season.

In a 162 game season, teams go through ups and downs.  The same goes for individual players.  Yovani Gallardo is going through some tough times right now.  History would tell you that he’s too good of a pitcher to see this continue.  But it’s not a surprise to see the Brewers struggling along with Gallardo.  Every team has a stopper on their staff.  That pitcher is the one you hand the ball to and depend on him to end the losing streak.  Right now, Gallardo isn’t up to that challenge.  When Gallardo gets his game back on track, there’s a good chance the Brewers will get back on track as well.
