The Green Bay Gamblers of Junior hockey's United States Hockey League, will reportedly name Jon Cooper as the teams next head coach and general manager at a news conference today.
According to the Green Bay Press Gazette , the two sides reached a contract agreement late last week and finalized the deal in Green Bay on Sunday.
Cooper was one of three finalists and won out over Houston Aeros assistant Luke Strand and University of Wisconsin assistant Kevin Patrick. Patrick eventually withdrew his name from consideration last week. Both he and Strand were both former Gamblers assistants.
Cooper will replace Mark Mazzoleni, who was fired during the past season in which the Gamblers went 13-41-6.
Cooper guided the St. Louis Bandits to their second straight North American League championship. He was twice named the NAHL's coach of the year.
