Gas prices are expected to remain stable through the holiday. Though, Nick Jarmusz with AAA Wisconsin admits gas prices are very difficult to predict.

Wisconsin gas prices last year at this time were a little higher than the national average, because of refinery maintenance issues. Jarmusz reminds us that anything can happen at any time.

The current statewide average is $3.59 a gallon, compared to $3.85 a year ago.

AAA Travel projects a little over 700,000 Wisconsin residents will journey 50 miles or more from home during the holiday weekend, that’s a 1.1 percent increase from last year.

The auto club defines the Memorial Day holiday travel period as this Thursday through Monday the 26th.
