The author of Wisconsin's new Constitutional Amendment against gay marriage says debate over the measure has had some "unfortunate consequences." Those providing legal services to gay and lesbian couples say passage of the amendment last month has created a state of chaos for many people.

State Representative Mark Gundrum (R-New Berlin) says it's regrettable those concerns have come up, but he blames the confusion on a campaign of misinformation used by groups who opposed the ban. Gundrum maintains that the amendment only bans the legalization of gay marriage or anything similar, but won't prohibit hospital visits for gay couples, insurance coverage, or similar issues.
