The UW-Green Bay Phoenix’ second-half comeback fell short last night in a 49-45 home loss to 18th ranked Purdue at the Kress Center.

Trailing by 11 points with three minutes remaining, Green Bay went on a 10-0 run to crawl within one, 44-43 with 49 seconds remaining.  But Purdue salted the game away by hitting 3 of their 4 free throw attempts down the stretch to pull out the win.

Green Bay shot just 28% from the field (19-67) from the field for the game, while Purdue managed to hit just 35% (14-40).  Purdue also made 17 of 21 (81%) free throws, while Green Bay missed their only free throw attempt.

The Boilermakers also controlled the boards, 45-31 to pull out their 8th win (8-2), while Green Bay (6-4) has dropped three straight games.

The Phoenix now take a break for the Christmas holiday.  They won’t play again until Dec. 30th against the Wisconsin Badgers.
