A Green Bay paper producer says it will be laying off 89 employees later this year.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development received the mandatory WARN, or Wisconsin Business Closing and Mass Layoff notice Thursday from Georgia Pacific Consumer Products. Georgia Pacific plans to shut down their shipping operations between April 13th and April 26th.
The state will be using Dislocated Worker Program resources to provide assistance to the workers, companies, and communities affected by the layoffs. A rapid response unit will be working with workers and the company in Green Bay to determine what types of help are needed and what programs can help. That group will also help workers with their preparation for new jobs and the job search process.
