As if the weekend flurries weren't enough, we're getting another sign that winter's lurking around the corner…it's Winter Awareness Week in Wisconsin.

Lori Getter with the state Department of Emergency Management it's a chance to remind people to always check road conditions before driving during winter months and to winterize their car by getting it checked out and stocking it with emergency supplies.

Getter says those supplies can come in handy if there's a repeat of last year's storm that shutdown portions of the Interstate system near Madison.

A car emergency kit typically includes blankets, flashlights, and sand or kitty-litter for traction.
