Some advice for charitable giving, this holiday season. Glen Lloyd with Wisconsin Consumer Protection says there are a lot of high pressure pitches, from organizations claiming to do good. "It takes a lot of time to check up on a charity," says Lloyd. "When in doubt (about the legitimacy of a group) don't give." Lloyd suggests taking the time to check with the Better Business Bureau or the National Charities Information Bureau, because scams happen. And, just as we're often encouraged to shop locally, Lloyd suggests we consider giving locally. Check with your church, mosque or synagogue to find a local charity that needs your help.
