A Wisconsin brewery is carving out a niche for those with a certain condition. Lakefront Brewery is among only a few producers of a gluten free beer a safe drinking option for those with wheat allergies and coeliac diseases. Lakefront employee Colin Ford says the brew ships “the most out of state” out of all their beers.

The Milwaukee brewery has been producing New Grist Beer since 2006. The Sorghum based brew was even requested at the Great Taste of the Midwest this weekend. Ford estimates its only one of about 12 beers around that is gluten free.

“You do what you can for these people because everyone should really drink beer,” he says.
