The Lear Corporation in Janesville — a General Motors supplier — is closing just before Christmas, the same time GM has said it will stop making SUVs in Janesville. Janesville City Council President Amy Loasching says city and state leaders continue to work on an incentive package to keep some sort of production at the GM plant. "We expected this announcement (from Lear) to come within a matter of days of General Motors; announcement," says Loasching. "I still think there's hope for General Motors' facility in the future, which would include employees at Lear."

Lear , which employs 371 people in the production of seats for GM SUVs, will cease production at Janesville on Dec. 23, the same date the GM plant shuts down, at a cost of nearly 1300 jobs.
