Russ Feingold says Alberto Gonzales perjured himself to Congress, and the Wisconsin Democrat is one of four D.C. lawmakers who want a special prosecutor to determine whether or not the Bush administration's embattled attorney general did in fact lie to Congress. "This has gone on long enough," Feingold said Thursday. "Congress must not permit anyone, and especially not the attorney general of the United States, to repeatedly mislead us." Feingold says Gonzales has "repeatedly demonstrated a clear pattern of deceiving the American people," and that while he's spent years trying to find out whether or not there have been abuses under the Patriot Act, Gonzales has known about abuses, but has denied knowing.
