Wisconsin tourism numbers for 2013 were great, and state tourism officials credit customer service for making the state so popular.

Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett says it makes a huge difference because “people never forget being treated well. They also never forget being treated poorly.” Klett says that’s why they created a national award winning customer service program.

Klett says 6,500 people in the state have taken part in this customer service program. She says it ensures that when people visit Wisconsin they are treated respectfully. Klett says customer service is a skill and “Wisconsin is masterful at it.”

Wisconsin Tourism was up four percent in 2013 from the previous year. Total visitor spending last year was $17.5 billion.
