A Green Bay lawmaker says the protests at the Capitol won’t sway his vote on Governor Walker’s proposal. Republican Senator Rob Cowles says the intimidation that’s going on in Madison — and around the state — simply doesn’t work.
He calls it a “wild scene” in Madison with tens of thousands of people protesting. “I don’t think it’s particularly effective. I think it’s strengthening the resolve of the people that will be supporting the bill, including myself.”
Cowles says he makes up his mind on his own, based on logic and evidence. He’s waiting to take a vote on the bill, while Senate Democrats remain “on the lamb” in Illinois.
“I think that they should show up for work.” He says, “When we were in the minority the last session we never considered not showing up.”
He says it’s ridiculous that senate Democrats didn’t show up for their jobs.
