Heading out of the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s state convention this past weekend in Milwaukee, the focus is on Scott Walker. The Milwaukee County Executive won the endorsement of delegates at the convention with 91-percent of the vote.
State GOP Chairman Reince Priebus says he expects Walker to go on to win the Republican nomination in September, although he admits former Congressman Mark Neumann remains a strong candidate.
Priebus says the party won’t do anything to exclude Neumann from the primary race, although they are planning to do whatever they can to promote Walker’s candidacy. That promotion will likely include financial assistance, volunteers, e-mail lists, and many other resources at the party’s disposal.
Priebus appeared with Walker at a campaign rally Monday in Verona, and in several other locations across the state.
