The Wisconsin Badgers basketball season came to an end in the opening round of the women’s Big Ten Conference Tournament in Indianapolis.

After a start that saw 10 lead chances and three tied scores in the first 10 minutes, Minnesota put together a 14-0 run to take a 31-18 lead with 3:31 remaining in the first half of play.

A pair of free throws by Morgan Paige with 2:29 left in the half ended Wisconsin’s scoring drought, but the damage had been done and the Badgers were unable to recover.  The Gophers went into halftime with a 39-23 lead.

Wisconsin shot a season-low 27.5% from the field and 25% from three point range.

The Gophers meanwhile hit 50% from the field and 55.6 % from 3-point range.

Fifty of the Gophers’ 81 points came from in the paint.

Taylor Wurtz was the only Badgers in double figures with 13 points.  She also added 5 rebounds.

The Badgers wrapped up their first season under Bobbie Kelsey with a 9-20 record.  Wisconsin finished ninth in the Big Ten at 5’11.
