By expanding some programs that provide tax credits to businesses, Governor Doyle hopes to boost the economy. While in Green Bay signing eight bills into law, Doyle said the CORE Jobs Act would create and expand programs that offer tax credits, grants and loans.

The new laws provide new credit of up to one percent for companies that buy goods and services from Wisconsin vendors. It provides up to $3 million for angel investors who provide capital for new firms and creates new links between businesses and the UW System.
The new measures come on top of about $200 million in economic tax incentives in the current state budget.
Republicans argue that the proposals from Majority Democrats are “too little, too late.” But Doyle said, at the same time, GOP lawmakers supported them.
