While appearing on MSNBC's Morning Joe Thursday, Governor Jim Doyle layed out what impact the recession has had on Wisconsin. He says deficit spending is necessary to stimulate the economy however because individual states are not allowed to deficit spend, federal assistance is needed.
Doyle pushed the need for infrastructure development in his state adding it's traditionally the federal government's role to kick in half of costs while the state picks up the rest. He assured the panel Wisconsin will do its share.
Host Joe Scarborough and conservative panelist Pat Buchanan challenged the Democratic Governor as to why the federal government may have to foot the bill for projects in Wisconsin. Doyle emphasized it's about helping the American economy and he hopes other states can improve their infrastructure as well.
Later in the morning, Doyle testified before House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
