Governor Scott Walker is calling a special session of the Legislature to focus on job creation. For the second time this year, Governor Walker wants lawmakers to take up a number of bills aimed at encouraging job growth in the private sector.
Walker wants lawmakers to meet next month to take up a series of 26 bills, which he says will help encourage businesses to expand. The special session bills include making a number of changes to state environmental and transportation regulations, providing tax relief, and creating more protections against civil liability for businesses.
Walker says each of those categories can help give employers more “stability and certainty.”

Lawmakers are scheduled to be back next month for their regular session. Walker says he wants the special session taken up during that time, with work wrapping up by the first week of November.
The special session call does not include bills on venture capital or mining, although Walker says they could be added later as work continues on those proposals.
