The governor says a bail out for the auto industry may be necessary.

In light of General Motor's decision to close its production facility in Janesville, Governor Jim Doyle admits there may be some hesitation in supporting a $25 billion bail out request for American automakers.

However, Doyle says those companies can't be allowed to fail and recognizes that the auto industry needs to be kept alive in the United States. Doyle says Congress needs to find some method to provide the help the auto industry needs.

Meanwhile, the Governor says the state continues to talk with GM about bringing production back to Janesville. He doubts there will be any progress soon, in light of the current condition of the company. Still, Doyle says there's hope that, if their situation turns around, GM could again make cars in Wisconsin.
