The Governor says the Video Competition Act approved by the Senate this week is needed to improve competition in the state. However, he's not saying if he'll sign the bill in its current form.

The measure passed the Senate Thursday on a 23-9 vote, with several amendments made on the floor. Doyle says he supports the changes made there, but he wants to wait until a final version is sent to his desk before saying if he'll sign the measure.

Opponents of the bill have raised concerns that the state doesn't have the resources to enforce consumer protections included in the measure. Doyle supports adding additional staff when they are needed and hopes lawmakers who supported the bill will do the same.

The bill is heading back to the Assembly, to approve the changes made in the Senate.
