The Governor says lawmakers need to take budget action he can actually sign.
The Republican-controlled Assembly on Tuesday passed a partial budget bill for education and local governments. However, Governor Jim Doyle still says he won't support the measure. During an appearance in Beloit on Wednesday, Doyle again stressed that he won't support a budget that's been passed in pieces. He wants a complete document to be passed by the legislature.
The Governor says Republicans and Democrats need to work together to reach a compromise. He says that's the only way a budget is going to get done. Doyle met with party leaders on Wednesday where he urged them to work together to finish the budget.
