UW Provost Pat Farrell is pushing for an increase, saying it's needed for the Madison campus to remain competitive. He says a $2,400 boost would make Wisconsin's tuition average in the conference.

Wisconsin has the second lowest tuition in the Big Ten, after Iowa.
