As his second term gets started, Governor Scott Walker plans to move forward with no changes to his current leadership team.
Walker announced his cabinet appointments Tuesday, a day after he took the oath of office at the state Capitol. The list includes the names of 17 heads of state agencies and made not changes from those currently serving in those positions.
In a statement, Walker said “”As we look forward to a new term, we are excited to keep working hard for Wisconsin, so people around our state can enjoy the prosperity that comes from hard work. Together, my leadership team and I will build upon our successes to continue moving Wisconsin forward,” said Governor Walker.”
While the current agency leadership is remaining in place, changes could still be looming on the horizon. Walker has indicated that he’s looking at merging some state agencies, which would likely lead to the elimination of some cabinet positions and top agency staff.
Walker said in his statement that his administration “will continue reforming government to make it work better for our taxpayers, eliminating waste and streamlining repetitive bureaucracy. In the coming months, legislation will be introduced to reduce the number of agencies and aimed at a common sense approach to providing necessary services at a great value to those taxpayers. The leadership teams at the affected agencies and throughout state government will work to ensure a smooth transition.”
