From his vantage point in Beijing, Governor Doyle seems to think there is some movement on the state budget.

But the Governor still doesn't think the Assembly's vote Tuesday to separately fund public education is the way to go.

While he appreciates the fact the Assembly republicans have agreed to his request for K-12 funding he still says a piecemeal budget won't fly and they're wasting their time.

During his Trade Mission call with reporters, the Governor said it's time for budget compromise and while he's not publically saying senate democrats should pull the tax-heavy universal health care off the table. he's not fighting for it either. He still wants Badger Care Plus.

The budget conference committee meets again today. The Governor thinks if they keep at it something will get done soon.
