Governor Scott Walker has signed legislation making changes to the state’s redistricting process.

The bill passed by lawmakers last week allows the Legislature to draw new Congressional and Legislative District maps before local governments finish their work. It also requires the state Supreme Court to appoint a three-judge panel to take up any court challenges brought against any redistricting maps.

Governor Walker’s office put out just a one-line press release Monday indicating SB 150 had been signed into law. The release did not include any statement from the Governor on his action or how he plans to act on new maps that are also sitting on his desk.
