Democratic lawmakers are asking for increased hours at Division of Motor Vehicles service centers. They claim that without that, many people will face unnecessary challenges in getting photo ID, which is now needed in order to vote in Wisconsin.

“We just want to make sure that we’re doing all we can to get people those photo IDs that they need in order to vote,” said Representative Andy Jorgenson

Governor Scott Walker has already dismissed the need, saying there are no barriers to obtaining ID. “That’s a lot of hype and hysteria by some on the left,” Walker said.

“It’s very concerning,” Jorgenson said. “We know that 300,000 registered voters in Wisconsin lack the ID cards now necessary. Without better DMV service hours and more convenient DMV locations, I’m convinced many of these people will be shut out of the November election.”
